I painted this view of the Dordogne river in France in the late Autumn – pretty cold, but the sun was out and little wind, so things weren’t so bad.

I think that the thing about ‘plain air’ landscape painting is that it becomes a record of the experience of being there, as opposed to a photo of the scene.

I think you can get the feeling that it was fairly chilly!
