“There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality.”
― Pablo Picasso
― Pablo Picasso
This is a view of the bridge across a tributary to the Tarn in a small village called Milhars in the south of France.
Pablo is, as usual, correct, in that, in a sense, all painting is abstract to some extent, some just more so than others.
For my part, the ‘something’ I start with is always nature, and then let the ambience and how I see it move the picture along.
However, I don’t remove all traces of reality, just some.
